The 2024 college football season has entered Week 3 with an early kickoff between a pair of Big 12 title contenders. Tonight, No. 14 Kansas State hosts No. 20 Arizona at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in what promises to be an exciting battle of Wildcats.

Arizona comes into Week 3 after a big win over New Mexico last week. Kansas State also beat Tulane in Week 2. Tonight's game is a huge chance for Arizona to make a statement, as it is the team's first Big 12 matchup ever.

It’s the Wildcats vs. the Wildcats tonight when No. 20 Arizona faces No. 14 Kansas State. It’s a rare meeting of two ranked teams in Week 3 of this year’s college football season, and the first real challenge for Arizona.

Last week, Arizona beat Northern Arizona 22-10, coming back from a sloppy start that saw the Wildcats down at the start of the second half. In Week 1, Arizona beat New Mexico 61-39. Kansas State is also 2-0 this season after beating UT Martin in their season opener and Tulane last week.

Arizona enters this matchup with a 2-0 record, but they struggled against Northern Arizona last week. The Arizona squad trailed 10-6 at halftime, but they were able to outscore Northern Arizona 16-0 in the second half to remain undefeated.

Arizona has been led by their sophomore quarterback Noah Fifita, who has thrown for 595 yards and five touchdowns this season. Notably, he has also thrown two interceptions, so he will need to limit his turnovers tonight.

Fifita’s top target has been Tetairoa McMillan, who has 315 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He will try to continue his offensive success this evening, but Kansas State has a good defense.

Kansas State also enters this matchup with a 2-0 record, and they are coming off a close 34-27 win against Tulane. The Kansas State squad trailed 20-10 at halftime, but they were able to bounce back with a great performance in the second half.

Arizona (2-0) puts the nation’s longest active FBS winning streak on the line. The Wildcats has won nine games in a row, which is tied for most consecutive FBS wins in school history.

Arizona is coming off a 22-10 victory over FCS in-state rival Northern Arizona.

Their offense is guided by sophomore quarterback Noah Fifita. In his previous game, Fifita went 18-of-26 for 173 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He is averaging 16 yards per completion. Arizona simply needs more playmaking out of their signal caller to keep its undefeated streak alive.

Fifita’s favorite target is junior wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who has 12 receptions for 315 yards and four touchdowns in just two games. However, most of those numbers came in his record-setting season opener two weeks ago. He is averaging a scintillating 26.3 yards per reception but was limited to just two receptions for 11 yards in his previous game.

Kansas State’s strength resides in its rugged run game. Junior DJ Giddens has amassed 238 yards on 32 carries while Colorado transfer Dylan Edwards has 97 yards on nine carries. The Wildcats average 6.5 yards per carry.

Dual threat quarterback Avery Johnson delivered 15-of-23 for 181 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 40 yards in his previous showing. That kind of crisp play will be crucial in what is expected to be a back-and-forth matchup.
